Los Angeles Kings are able to pull away in the third period
In the game on Tuesday night, it felt like the Kings let a point slip away as they had a one-goal lead in the final 10 minutes of the game before the Penguins tied it up before winning it in overtime. In that game, the Kings seemed to be on their heels and let Pittsburgh be in control.
That was not the case in this game, even with the back and forth nature with neither team getting more than a one-goal lead until the third period. However, the final period was all LA Kings as they would score four goals to put the game out of reach.
It started early in the period with Warren Foegele deflecting the puck off a Jordan Spence shot to put the Kings up 4-3. After that, it was the captain Anze Kopitar who would score (his second goal of the night) to give the Kings their first two-goal lead of the night.
Quinton Byfield would score an empty net goal before Kevin Fiala, who started the scoring against the Flyers, ended it with a goal in the final minutes of the game. The Kings now enter probably the toughest stretch of this entire road trip as they head to Nashville to play the Predators before playing the Washington Capitals the next night.
This was a good momentum building game for this team to hopefully finish the road trip strong.
