The Los Angeles Kings have seemingly kept the momentum going from a big win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday night. After a 6-3 win over the Golden Knights, the Los Angeles Kings jumped out to an early lead against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday afternoon.
The Kings had struggled at times with their power play but that wasn't the case after they got the man advantage after Tanner Jeannot was tripped. The Kings were able to move the puck around before Anze Kopitar got the puck down by the goal.
The team's captain held the puck and looked like he was about to pass it to Adrian Kempe who was pushing towards the net. However, he sent a pass right in front of the crease, through the legs of a Blackhawk defender to Alex Laferriere, who was left unguarded on the far post and didn't waste an opportunity to give the Kings a 1-0.
Anze Kopitar and Alex Laferriere have been playing great hockey for the Los Angeles Kings
Anze Kopitar will go down as one of the best players in franchise history and the past few games have been a prime example of why. In the last four games, Kopitar has one goal and three assists including a goal and two assists in the last game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Meanwhile, Alex Laferriere has seven goals on the season and leads the Los Angeles Kings in that category. The goal today against the Chicago Blackhawks has now extended his goal streak to three straight games.
Laferriere started the year on the line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe but the lines were shuffled after the Toronton Maple Leafs game. However, Laferriere continues to play with Kopitar and Kempe on the power play and they clearly are on the same page with the goal they had today.
