The Los Angeles Kings have shifted their focus to the offseason after getting knocked out of the playoffs last week. While they are no longer competing for a Stanley Cup, they should be keeping a close eye on the rest of the playoffs.
The reason is that there are a number of players that are set to be free agents this offseason that could be of interest for the Los Angeles Kings. These are some of the top free agents that could be targets for the Kings in the next few months.
3 pending free agents for the Los Angeles Kings to scout that are still in the NHL Playoffs
Mitch Marner (Toronto Maple Leafs)
One of the top free agents this offseason is forward Mitch Marner, who is a forward on the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has been a consistent player for the Maple Leafs over the past four seasons with at least 85 points every season, including a career high 102 this current year.
So far through the first seven games of the playoffs, Marner has continued that production with nine points (1 goal, 8 assists) and helped Toronto get to the second round.
The challenge for the Los Angeles Kings is that Marner will undoubtedly have a number of teams trying to sign him and it isn't even a guarantee that he will leave Toronto. If the Kings are able to meet his contract demands, he would be an incredible addition to the forward lines and help transform this offense.
