Erik Portillo
The final player is one who was expected to have a bigger role in the NHL but with the signing of Anton Forsberg, he might bring more value to the Kings in a trade. The signing of the veteran goalie has blocked any realistic path to the NHL for Erik Portillo, especially considering he signed a two-year contract.
Portillo has spent most of the past two seasons with the Ontario Reign but did make his NHL debut last season. All signs pointed to him taking that next step and being a full-time NHL player as the backup to Kuemper but it appears the Kings wanted a veteran in this role.
There is no question that goalies are always in high demand across the league and if the Kings made him available, there would be teams that would be interested. When also taking into consideration that the Kings have Carter George and Hampton Slukynsky in the organization, they have the talent at the position to consider trading Portillo.
If there is one player that seems the most likely to be traded, my guess would be that Portillo would be that player.
