Carter George with a shutout performance in debut for the Ontario Reign
The Ontario Reign have been dealing with injuries at well, particularly at goalie, as Erik Portillo has been out since mid-February. While Pheonix Copley has handled most of the goalie duties, the Reign got some help in the form of Carter George.
George, who was a second round by the LA Kings in the 2024 NHL Draft, had spent most of the season in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack. However, once their season was over the Reign recalled George to finish out the rest of their season with them.
George would make his first start on Saturday and it couldn't have gone any better as he would stop all 33 shots he faced and secure a shutout against the San Jose Barracuda. It was an impressive performance by the 18-year-old and he is just another part of a goalie pipeline that is very deep with talent.
