LA Kings need a fast start against the Boston Bruins to secure win
The Los Angeles Kings are set to play their second game of the 2024-25 season on Saturday against the Boston Bruins. The good news is that the Kings are entering Boston with a win already under their belt after a 3-1 come from behind victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
It was a slow start for the Kings as they were shut out through the first two periods before Anze Kopitar took over and put together a hat trick in the final period. The environment in Boston is going to be much different than in Buffalo and it will be important to try and take the crowd out of this one early.
The Kings need to make sure they get off to a fast start in this game and the good news is that the Bruins have shown they struggle in the early periods.
Los Angeles Kings must take advantage of the early period woes of the Boston Bruins
The Bruins split their first two games of the season as they lost 6-4 to the Florida Panthers to open the season before winning 6-4 over the Montreal Canadiens. While the outcomes were different, there was a common theme in both.
This season, the Bruins have allowed 10 goals, six of them in the first period, after the Panthers netted four and the Canadiens added two. The difference in the Canadiens game though was the Bruins added three of their own goals and had the lead after the first period instead of being down 4-1 to the Panthers.
The win over the Buffalo Sabres was great to see for the Los Angeles Kings but if they really want to test themselves and see where they stack up with the top teams in the NHL, this game against the Bruins will be an excellent measuring stick.
