Los Angeles Kings get out of the first round of the playoffs
The Los Angeles Kings have been one of the best teams in the NHL and certainly a Stanley Cup would be on everyone's wishlist this season. While that is the ultimate goal, reaching the second round of the NHL should be the focus at this point.
The Kings have made the playoffs three straight seasons and each year has been a first-round exit thanks to the Edmonton Oilers. Unfortunately, it seems like the Kings have been moving farther away from advancing after going seven games in their first meeting in the 2021-22 season to six games then five games in the most recent playoff series.
The focus for the Kings needs to just advance because if they are to make the playoffs for a fourth straight season and end up with another first-round exit then that talking point only gets louder and won't be discussed until they get to the second round. Ending that streak this year would probably be atop their holiday wish list.
