Improved Power Play
One of the areas that the Los Angeles Kings have surprisingly regressed a lot is on power plays. This season, they have a power play percentage of 15.9%, which got a bump after Kevin Fiala had a power play goal against the Washington Capitals.
However, that percentage still ranks 26th in the league and is still well behind where the Kings were the past few seasons. In 2023-24, the Kings were 11th at 22.6% and the season prior to that they were fourth at 25.3%.
The return of Drew Doughty, hopefully sometime in January, should certainly help as he was third on the Los Angeles Kings in power play goals last season with seven and fourth in assists with 13. It won't be the only solve though and Jim Hiller and the coaching staff should be looking at other ways to improve this part of the team.
