The Los Angeles Kings have wrapped up their seven game road trip and return home for a well-deserved extended break. The NHL has a league-wide three-day break this week but for the Kings with how their schedule was set up will actually have five days off before playing the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
This is the time of year that people create their holiday wish list and I decided to put one together for the Los Angeles Kings to see what they might want for the rest of the 2024-25 season.
Los Angeles Kings' holiday wish list for the rest of the 2024-25 season
An overtime win
Let's start with something that has been elusive for this Kings' team and that is just an overtime win. They have played five overtime games on the season, including two during this seven-game road trip, but have yet to come away with a win.
These overtime struggles date back to last season as the Kings would lose 11 of 18 overtime games that season. The good news is that by getting to overtime, the Kings at least get one point, but in what should be a tight division race, those extra points for a win could be the difference between them winning the Pacific Division.
