Entering the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Kings have played the Dallas Stars (formerly the Minnesota North Stars) the third most games in their franchise history. While they may not be in the same division anymore, these two franchises will always be connected as they were two of the six teams added by the NHL when they expanded from the Original Six to 12 teams in the 1967-1968 season.
In total, the Kings have played 247 games against them with 113 games against the Minnesota North Stars with another 134 games against the Dallas Stars.
However, regardless of the team they were playing the Kings have struggled against this franchise with a losing record against both. When playing the Minnesota North Stars, they had a record of 41-49 with 23 ties while they have a 50-64-11 record with nine ties against the Dallas Stars for a combined record of 91-113-11 with 32 ties.
One positive for the Los Angeles Kings in their series history is that they have a winning record in home games against the Stars. They have played 123 games at home and have a record of 53-47-4 with 19 ties. That is good news for the 2024-25 season as the Kings will play the Stars three times, with two at Crypto.com Arena.
In addition to the regular season, the two teams have met in the playoffs once but it was all the way back in 1968. This was the first season in franchise history for the Kings and entered the playoffs as the two seed while the Minnesota North Stars were the four seed.
This series would end up going all seven games as the home team won each of the first six games. However, the Kings would come up short in Game 7 at home by a final score of 9-4.
More recently, the Dallas Stars have dominated this series against the Los Angeles Kings as they are 8-2 over the past 10 games. Last season, the Stars swept the Kings in three games and outscored them 13-3.
