For Ken Holland and the Los Angeles Kings, it seems almost all options are on the table this offseason. They have one goal in mind and that is to improve this roster to compete for a Stanley Cup.

The Kings have the cap space to go after a top free agent, like Mitch Marner, but also could explore the trade market. One option, if he is available, that would be a great trade is with the Dallas Stars for left wing Jason Robertson.

Recently, Jeff Marek with Daily Faceoff, floated the idea that the Stars could make Robertson available in a way to create cap space to go after a big-name free agent themselves. The Stars are in a similar situation to the Kings in that they are trying to find a way to get further in the playoffs after consecutive trips to the Western Conference Finals.

Jason Robertson would be a tremendous boost to the LA Kings' offense

The area the Kings could improve the most is on offense after they were one of the top defensive teams. They particularly could use a player on the top line at left wing as that was a revolving door for most of the season until they added Andrei Kuzmenko at the trade deadline.

Robertson will be turning 26 before the upcoming season but has already had 80 or more points in three consecutive seasons, including a career-high 109 points in 2022-23. The biggest question mark for the Kings is whether or not they believe they can sign him to a long-term deal as he is entering the final year of his current contract and will be a restricted free agent after this upcoming season.

If that is not a concern, or the Kings believe a new deal can get done, this feels like an absolute move for the Kings to make. There hasn't been an indication that Robertson is available and the Stars are probably still trying to figure out what they want to do this offseason after their disappointing series loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

However, if that time comes, Ken Holland needs to move quickly as a trade for Jason Robertson would drastically change the trajectory of this team.
