While the 2025-26 season is still months away, the Los Angeles Kings announced their preseason schedule on Friday. The most notable takeaway is that the Kings will be traveling plenty across the western part of the United States, with six of their seven games outside of Los Angeles.
The preseason schedule kicks off on September 23rd in Las Vegas against the Golden Knights before they have a game the next night in Anaheim against the Ducks. This will be the first of three preseason games against the Ducks as they play them again on September 27th in Bakersfield, CA at the Dignity Health Arena.
After a few days off, the Kings travel north to play the Utah Mammoth in Boise, ID, and will face them again shortly after on October 2nd in Utah. They will return to Los Angeles and wrap up their preseason schedule against the Anaheim Ducks on October 4th at Crypto.com Arena, their first preseason game at home in two seasons.
The Kings are no stranger to a preseason schedule that is away from Los Angeles, and they had a similar schedule last year. Last season, the Kings opened the regular season with seven straight road games, but before that played two games in Quebec City with games against the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers.
For the Kings, the question now is how different this team will look compared to the last time they were on the ice in Crypto.com Arena. The last game was against the Oilers, in a playoff game that they would lose before losing the series the next game.
This will be the challenge for new general manager Ken Holland and will be the first test to see if the changes he makes over the next few weeks help the Kings' chances at a Stanley Cup.
