This past Tuesday night (April 14), the Los Angeles Kings missed out on an opportunity in the standings in the West in the Pacific Division this regular season down the stretch to get home ice advantage this upcoming weekend in the postseason in the playoffs in the league. The Kings were able to clinch a spot this upcoming postseason in the playoffs this upcoming weekend this spring.

Los Angeles Kings in the middle of the pack in the West and in the top half of the Pacific Division rankings late this regular season in the final full week power rankings in the NHL

In the Pacific Division on the road vs. the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night this week, the Kings had an opportunity to get two points in the standings in the West this regular season down the stretch to move up in the division standings this spring.

The Kings had a successful homestand this past couple of weeks early this month in early April in the West. A five-game winning streak, including four straight wins on home ice in the homestand, boosted the Kings in the standings in the West this regular season down the stretch for the postseason in the playoffs.

I don't think that the Kings have the luxury of resting its top players in the active roster lineup this spring this regular season down the stretch in the finale on Thursday night in the Pacific Division late this week. The Kings need two points in the standings in the West in the Pacific Division on Thursday night vs. the Calgary Flames tonight.

In the final full week of this regular season in the West in this past few months for this weekly power rankings from The Hockey Writers, interim head coach DJ Smith and the Kings ranked among the bottom 15 teams in the league in the NHL. The Kings need to keep the pressure on this upcoming week in the West to get a chance at a more advantageous run path in the postseason this spring.

For the post-Week 23 NHL power rankings from The Hockey Writers, the Kings ranked just outside of the bottom dozen teams in the league. The Kings ranked No. 19 in this week's power rankings in the league in the NHL, which also put them in the top half of the Pacific Division teams in the ranking.
