This past couple of weeks in the West gave the Los Angeles Kings and head coach Jim Hiller an opportunity to make up ground in the standings in the Pacific Division in the West this regular season on a season-long road trip. The Kings fought for positioning in the Pacific Division standings in the West with a battle with the Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks for the spring this upcoming playoffs.
Los Angeles Kings hold steady in the bottom 15 teams in the league in the post-Week 16 NHL Power Rankings
The Kings have a few points on the line in the standings in the Pacific Division in the Western Conference late this week on Wednesday and Thursday in back-to-back games in the division against the Seattle Kraken (Feb. 4) and Vegas Golden Knights (Feb. 5).
After these next couple of games in the West for the Kings, there will be a three-week-long break for the Winter Olympics in Italy this month in mid-to-late February in the next few weeks for LA and head coach Jim Hiller.
The Kings continued to hold steady among the bottom dozen teams in the league in the NHL this regular season in the West in the power rankings post-Week 16 this year. Hiller and the Kings can improve their standing in the West in the Pacific Division for this upcoming postseason in the playoffs this week, in back-to-back games today and Thursday night.
Ahead of the Winter Olympics break this upcoming week in Italy, The Hockey Writers kept the Kings steady in the post-week 17 NHL power rankings. Hiller and the Kings held steady at No. 24 in this week's NHL power rankings from The Hockey Writers, which puts LA among the bottom five teams in the rankings in the Pacific Division in the West for this upcoming week.
Despite the Kings having a record of 3-1-1 this past couple of weeks in the West in the road trip on the East Coast, including three points this past weekend against the Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes in back-to-back games, the power rankings still had this team middling in the Pacific Division.
