A roller coaster ride of a regular season in the West this past few months in the Pacific Division for head coach Jim Hiller and the Los Angeles Kings has made for unpredictable results on the ice for the fans at Crypto.com Arena.
Los Angeles Kings find themselves in a mediocre spot in the post-Week 13 NHL Power Rankings
We don't know the pattern of when the Kings are going to show up with a strong effort on the ice on home ice at Crypto Arena this regular season in the past couple of months. The Kings haven't put together more than a few game winning streak this regular season in the West in the past few months.
Hiller and the Kings seemingly hit rock bottom in the standings in the West this past weekend when LA fell by a convincing score of 5-1 on the road north of the border in Canada in the front end of back-to-back games vs. the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 9. But the Kings surprised the fans and the media with a strong and resilient performance in the back end of back-to-back games on Saturday night this past weekend (Jan. 10) vs. the Edmonton Oilers in a big 4-3 shootout win on the road in Alberta.
That said, the Kings were unable to string multiple wins together in the West and build momentum in the Pacific Division from the impressive and resilient 4-3 shootout win over the Oilers in Edmonton on the road early this week against the Dallas Stars at home this past Monday night (Jan. 12).
Since this past week in the West, the Kings rose up one spot in the post-Week 13 NHL Power Rankings from The Hockey Writers. The Kings rank 20th in the Week 14 NHL Power Rankings in the league, and the team is firmly out of the bottom 10-ranked teams this regular season early this week.
The Kings rank in the top half of the teams in the Pacific Division in the West this week in the post-Week 13 NHL Power Rankings in the league.
