The Los Angeles Kings (4-3-3) and head coach Jim Hiller finally picked up their first regulation win of this regular season on Sunday night (Oct. 26) against the Chicago Blackhawks by multiple goals. Hiller and the Kings defeated the Blackhawks by a score of 3-1 at the United Center over the weekend on Sunday to continue to find more success in the win column early this regular season.

A three-win week boosts the Los Angeles Kings in the Week 3 NHL Power Rankings

In three of the past four games for the Kings, Hiller's squad has picked up regulation and overtime wins. The Kings have picked up seven points out of a possible eight points in this Western Conference road trip since this past week in late October.

This is probably the best result the Kings could hope for from any road trip in the West in the Pacific Division this regular season in terms of success in the win column and in the standings this fall.

It was either the game yesterday against the Blackhawks, or the overtime win over the Dallas Stars this past week that was the Kings' best overall game that the team has picked up a full two points early this regular season. But the Kings also played a pretty complete game on both ends of the ice in the shootout loss to the Nashville Predators this past weekend on Saturday (Oct. 25) in the front end of back-to-back games.

This past week, the Kings ranked near the bottom of the Pacific Division in the West in the NHL Power Rankings for the second full week of the regular season.

The Kings had a good week, going 3-0-1 in the team's past four road games in this road trip this past week. Despite the Kings having some success in the past week or so in this road trip, it came at a cost this past weekend.

Hiller and the Kings lost forward Warren Foegele due to an injury in the win over Chicago in the first period on Sunday. We don't know how long Foegele will be out for. But his absence will clearly have an impact on the team on the forward lines early this regular season.

The Hockey Writers had the Kings jumping up seven spots in this week's NHL Power Rankings for Week 3 of the 2025-26 season in the league.

The Kings ranked No. 22 in this week's power rankings, which has them out of the bottom five spots in the West and in the Pacific Division this regular season.
