This past Friday morning (Feb. 13), Los Angeles Kings and Team Switzerland winger Kevin Fiala had to be stretchered off the ice in the Winter Olympics due to a lower leg injury he suffered on a collision near the boards with Washington Capitals and Team Canada forward Tom Wilson.
Los Angeles Kings winger Kevin Fiala will be "re-evaluated" after the 2025-26 regular season due to a lower-body injury
Fiala underwent successful surgery on his left leg yesterday in Italy and he has officially been ruled out for the rest of the Winter Olympics, along with the rest of the 2025-26 regular season in the NHL.
The Kings' team released a statement yesterday (Feb. 15) updating Fiala's injury status this past weekend, saying that he will miss the rest of the 2025-26 regular season.
"Kevin Fiala underwent successful surgery to repair fractures in his left lower leg. He is resting comfortably and will begin the recovery and rehabilitation program. Kevin will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NHL regular season and will be reevaluated at the conclusion of the regular season."LA Kings on Kevin Fiala
The fact that it was noted in this statement release from the Kings team yesterday this past weekend that Fiala will miss the rest of the regular season means that he could possibly return to the active roster lineup from injury for the playoffs, assuming LA makes it that far this upcoming spring in the league.
If the Kings do make a decent run in the postseason in the playoffs this upcoming spring in the West in the Pacific Division, there is a real chance that Fiala could make it far enough in his recovery to return to the active roster lineup for the team in a few months down the road.
Fiala also posted an update to his Instagram account this past weekend on Sunday in the hospital bed after the surgery.

Amid the Olympic break for three weeks in the NHL, the Kings are only a few points out of a spot in the playoff picture in the West in the Pacific Division. The Kings could get a sizable boost coming out of the Olympic break with the offensive boost scoring the puck with the addition of New York Rangers' star forward Artemi Panarin.
The Kings and new general manager Ken Holland also have the cap room available to make a move on the trade block to add another piece offensively to the active roster lineup this regular season in the west in this upcoming next few weeks in the league.
