The game will now take place in a couple of months between the Kings and Blue Jackets after the break in February next month for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy in the next few weeks.

Both the Kings and Blue Jackets were coming into tonight's game with recent success in their respective divisions in the standings in the NHL in this past couple of weeks. The Blue Jackets won two games in a row and six out of the last seven games in the Metro Division in the East in the past couple of weeks.

The first matchup between these two teams this regular season was roughly a month ago around the holiday break for Christmas in late-December last month. The Blue Jackets defeated the Kings by a score of 3-1 at Crypto Arena on Dec. 22.

The Kings, meanwhile, have won two games in a row this past week in the Pacific Division in the West, and the team has built a five-game point streak in the last two weeks in mid-to-late January this month.

Next up for head coach Jim Hiller and the Kings now is a matchup on Tuesday night (Jan. 27) on the road as part of this six-game road trip in the East vs. the Detroit Red Wings from the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference.
