Among the best developments in the Los Angeles Kings' minor league and developmental system this regular season is the breakthrough of forward prospect Vojtech Cihar. The Kings' forward prospect scored a goal this past weekend that sent Czechia to the Gold Medal game in the World Junior Championships in Minnesota.

Los Angeles Kings forward prospect Vojtech Cihar leads Czechia to the Gold Medal game with two goals against Team Canada in the World Juniors

Czechia defeated Team Canada by a score of 6-4 in a thriller of a game in the semifinals of the World Junior Championships on Jan. 4. Cihar scored the empty-netter that sealed the two-goal win for Czechia to advance to the Gold Medal game.

He also scored what would be the eventual game-tying goal to give Czechia the lead back on the scoreboard in the game's final frame in the third period in clutch time, to lead by a score of 4-3 against Team Canada in the game's final 10 minutes over the weekend.

For his efforts in the semifinals game to send Czechia to the Gold Medal game, Cihar earned player of the game honors in the win over Team Canada yesterday. Cihar has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with offensively scoring the puck for Czechia.

He is not only the only forward on Czechia with double-digit points scored, but he also ranks among the top five point-getters in the World Junior Championships (11 points this tournament).

Cihar has continued to prove himself that he is a top-scoring forward in the Kings' minor league and developmental system this season. This is the second straight World Junior Championships that he's helped Czechia win a medal in the tournament.

This past year, he helped Czechia win a bronze medal in the 2025 World Junior Championships.

In the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, the Kings selected the 18-year-old forward Cihar in the second round (59th overall).

The Kings and new general manager Ken Holland signed Cihar to a three-year entry-level contract worth a total of around $975K this past fall.
