In this past week, the Los Angeles Kings and general manager Ken Holland conducted exit interviews with the media after the postseason in the playoffs this spring last month in late April. Many of the Kings' players who are pending restricted and unrestricted free agents this upcoming offseason this summer in 2026 in this upcoming next few months in the active roster lineup for the team.
This past regular season in this past few months, the Kings and Holland in the front office acquired veteran center Scott Laughton from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the East on the block and at the trade deadline a couple of months ago. Laughton seems to be interested in playing with the Kings at least for another season in the West.
"The interest level is high for me, for sure The opportunity I was given here, the guys here, the staff, the way I was treated, my family came down and absolutely loved it. So yeah, the interest level is high. Not the ending you want, but there’s guys in there that really care and I had a lot of fun in the two months I was here."Scott Laughton
In the West this past regular season, Laughton helped the Kings make the postseason in the playoffs in the Pacific Division. He scored five goals and over a half dozen total points in over 20 games played at the center position for the Kings in the West this past regular season in this past couple of months.
It's also been reported that Laughton and the Kings have mutual interest in the West this upcoming offseason in the summer of 2026 to re-sign him at the center position in the active roster lineup and for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Even though Laughton only played over 20 games this past regular season with the Kings, he was an impactful contributor as a two-way center in the active roster lineup. Holland and the Kings in the front office need depth and proven experience at the center position this offseason in 2026 in the active roster lineup offensively.
