While this past regular season wasn't the most productive offensively for speedy winger Trevor Moore, he was still a key contributor on both sides of the ice for the Los Angeles Kings and on special teams.
As was the case for some other middle-six Kings' forwards, this past regular season didn't go as planned offensively for Moore. After scoring 30 goals for the first time in his NHL career for the Kings a couple of seasons ago, Moore has scored fewer than 20 goals in each of the last two seasons.
This upcoming season will be about seeing if Moore can re-establish himself as an impactful secondary scorer and a speedy playmaker in transition and the offensive zone for the Kings.

In this past regular season, Moore finished up with 13 goals, 19 assists, and 32 total points in 69 games played. That was a pretty significant dip after he registered 18 goals and 40 points in the 2024-25 season and 31 goals in 2023-24.
Moore also missed a significant number of games in the second half of the regular season due to an injury. He missed double-digit games for the second consecutive regular season for the Kings.
The coaching change in early March seemed to have a more positive impact on Moore down the stretch this past regular season. He scored five goals and double-digit points in the season's final 16 games.
Moore was also a scoring chance machine for the Kings down the stretch, leading the team with 58 shots and over 40 scoring chances generated in the season's final 22 games (per Natural Stat Trick).
On special teams on the penalty kill, Moore remained a consistent contributor for the top unit for the Kings this past season. He ranked second among Kings' forwards in ice time on special teams on the penalty kill, while still getting some minutes on the second unit on the power play.
The underlying analytics are a bit more favorable to Moore's performance this past season. Not only was he the only Kings' player to eclipse 24 MPH this past season, but he also ranked among the top five forwards on the team in high-danger scoring chance percentage and corsi-for percentage at 5-on-5.

We have Moore projected to play on the third forward line for the Kings this upcoming season, alongside center Scott Laughton and winger Alex Laferriere. The Kings don't really need Moore to fit the role of a top-six scorer, with proven playmakers like Artemi Panarin, Adrian Kempe, and Mats Zuccarello filling out the top two forward lines this upcoming season.
If this projection holds, it would be a pretty underrated group for having two recent 20-goal scorers with as much speed and versatility as the wingers Laferriere and Moore bring. Laughton is also a proven two-way center who can be the glue to hold this potent group together on both ends of the ice for the Kings.
This line of Laferriere, Moore, and Laughton could potentially be the Kings' most versatile forward group entering training camp this fall. They are fast, physical, and have great hockey sense on and away from the puck on both ends of the ice.
They can provide the Kings with secondary scoring support while also handling more difficult assignments in the defensive zone.
At this point, it's starting to look like Moore's 31-goal season was more of an anomaly than something to regularly expect from him for the Kings. A more realistic expectation would be for him to get back to scoring 20 goals and something like 40-45 total points.
