Defenseman Kyle Burroughs gave depth on the blue line group to the Los Angeles Kings and head coach Jim Hiller this past season in the Pacific Division. The Kings received Burroughs in a trade with the in-state and Pacific Division foe, the San Jose Sharks, last offseason.

Burroughs played 33 regular season games this past year in his first season with the Kings, registering three assists and three total points.

After veteran defenseman Drew Doughty suffered a lower-body injury that forced him to miss the first half of the last regular season for the Kings, Burroughs was inserted into the lineup more often on the blue line for Hiller and LA. Burroughs suited up for 26 games this past regular season and before the 4 Nations Tournament in February.

He registered two assists and a +3 plus/minus rating in the season's first four months for the Kings.

In the postseason, Burroughs didn't play any games for the Kings in the first round series against the Edmonton Oilers.

Burroughs is entering the final year of his current contract, worth around $1.1 million in average annual value. He is going to compete with fellow defenseman Jacob Moverare to earn the spot as the seventh defensemen on the blue line for the Kings projected roster going into the 2025-26 season.

The fact that Burroughs has more proven experience, is more physical, and can play on the right side, could give him an edge over Moverare in the competition for the seventh defensemen for the Kings this upcoming season.
