After signing a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings this past offseason in 2024, defenseman Jacob Moverare finished the 2024-25 regular season as a consistent member of head coach Jim Hiller's blue-line group on defense.
Moverare started this past season in the 2024-25 campaign, playing games with the Kings' AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. After playing just under a dozen games with the Reign this past season, Moverare was called up to play with the Kings in the NHL for the rest of the campaign.
He played over half of the 82 regular season games for the Kings this past season, serving mostly in the role of the seventh defensemen for Hiller and LA in 2024-25.

Moverare played well for the Kings when he was put into the defensive lineup for Hiller and staff this past season. He scored one goal and eight total points in 49 games played this past season for the Kings. Moverare was able to put up that type of production while averaging fewer than a dozen minutes per game in ice time last season.
Hiller and the Kings showed confidence in Moverare in key situations. Not only did he lead the team's defensemen in shots blocked per 60 minutes on the ice (7.2), but he also suited up for two postseason games on the blue line for the Kings.
Jacob Moverare 2025-26 Los Angeles Kings season preview
This upcoming season is the final year of Moverare's two-year contract he signed with the Kings last offseason in 2024. If he can beat out fellow Kings' defenseman Kyle Burroughs for a spot on the blue-line roster for LA this upcoming season, he should be a regular in the lineup once again this year for this group in the Pacific Division.
Burroughs and Moverare are expected to battle for the seventh defenseman role for the Kings in training camp and the preseason for this fall on the ice.
