Early last regular season, the Los Angeles Kings' young forward Alex Laferriere started red hot in the season's first two months. He scored double-digit goals in the first couple of months of the 2024-25 regular season, which essentially helped him top his rookie total of a dozen goals from his first year in the league in the 2023-24 campaign for LA.
Laferriere slightly outperformed the preseason expectations after he was a pretty surprising and young roster addition a couple of seasons ago for the Kings and head coach Jim Hiller in 2023-24. It seemed like Laferriere couldn't slow down in the season's first two months. He scored 11 goals, including three game-winning goals for the Kings, before the calendar turned to December this past season.
Regarding his overall production and goal scoring for the Kings last year, Laferriere did take a step forward in his development for LA. He finished this past season in the Pacific Division with 19 goals and a career-high 43 total points for the Kings.
Alex Laferriere 2024-25 Los Angeles Kings player season recap
2024-25 season stats: 77 games played, 19 goals, 23 assists, 42 points, +22
2024-25 advanced stats: 9.8 shooting %, 10.5 5-on-5 shooting %, 2.0 points/60, 4.8 point shares, 1.1 WAR
2024-25 possession metrics (with Kings): 55.4 CF%, 56.2 SCF%, 102.5 PDO, 57.5 HDCF%
The young 23-year-old forward brings a lot of potential and goal-scoring prowess around the net to the Kings' top nine forward group up front. Laferriere showed that promise with his scorching start for the Kings' forward core this past season in the season's first 30 games or so.
Laferriere's 13 goals in the regular season's first half last year already eclipsed his goal total from his entire rookie campaign in 2023-24. The second half of the regular season did see Laferriere's goal-scoring production start to dip.
He scored single-digit goals in the season's final 40 games, but he did register double-digit assists in that span of this past regular season for the Kings.

Alex Laferriere 2025-26 Los Angeles Kings season preview
After his step up in production this past season for LA, new general manager Ken Holland and the Kings signed Laferriere to a three-year contract extension earlier this offseason.
If Laferriere can continue to improve his scoring production and consistency with distributing the puck for the Kings' top nine forward core this upcoming season, he'll be able to top his point total from his sophomore season in the 2024-25 campaign. Laferriere will be a big part of the Kings' top nine forward core this upcoming season and heading into the future in LA.
