Trevor Moore entered this season for the Los Angeles Kings with high expectations as he was coming off a career year. The prior season, Moore had set a career high in goals with 31, and that was almost double his previous career-high of 17 from the 2021-22 season.
However, the forward got off to a really slow start in that department. He had only six goals through 40 games, including going a stretch of 14 straight games without a goal and only registering two points. This 14-game stretch included two games before he suffered an upper body injury and then 12 games after he returned, so the injury certainly could have played a factor in the lack of production.
The final 31 games, though, were a completely different story as Moore would have 12 goals, with eight additional assists, and a +/- of +18. He continued the momentum into the playoffs and had two goals and two assists in the six games against the Oilers.
Grade for Trevor Moore's 2024-25 season with the Los Angeles Kings: C
The big question coming out of this season is what Trevor Moore can the Los Angeles Kings expect going forward? Are they going to have the one who can consistently score 25+ goals or the player who will get around 40 points with between 15-20 goals.
He will be 30 years old for this season, and while the 2023-24 season was excellent, it seems more likely that Moore will settle into the 40-point-per-season average.
Where the Kings land in that discussion could have major implications moving forward as they try to improve the roster heading into next season. It wouldn't be surprising that at some point this offseason, Moore is involved in some trade discussions as Ken Holland starts to explore trades with other teams.
