After playing 20 games in the 2023-24 season, Alex Turcotte began the season with the Los Angeles Kings and would play 68 games. He would miss a significant chunk of the season due to an injury but when on the ice did a lot of good things for this team.
He would move around the lineup for most of the season and at times was on the top line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe. These three would have over 300 minutes of ice time this season and were tied for third on the team in goals scored at 16, according to Natural Stat Trick.
After the trade deadline, Turcotte would move to the fourth line and helped improve a line that the Kings didn't get much production from this season. Turcotte, alongside Samuel Helenius and Tanner Jeannot, were making an impact, but unfortunately, injuries to Jeannot and Turcotte cut that momentum short.
For the season, Turcotte had nine goals and 16 assists with a +/- of +6 while setting a career high in average ice time of 11:44. However, he had a limited role in the playoffs as he played in only three games and had no points with a +/- of -2. The playoff performance didn't factor much into this grade as this seemed to be more of a coaching decision and not so much a reflection on his performance.
Grade for Alex Turcotte's 2024-25 season with the Los Angeles Kings: B
The Los Angeles Kings asked a lot from Turcotte this past season as he would move around the lines and play different roles. However, it seemed where ever he was he was very productive.
For the Los Angeles Kings and Alex Turcotte, is what does next season look like? The great thing is that the Kings don't need to answer that now and he is a versatile player that can move up into a permanent role in the Top 9 but if the Kings add to that group in free agency or through a trade, he would be a huge boost to a fourth line.
