Darcy Kuemper streaks end at 15 games
Darcy Kuemper was one game shy of tying the record for most consecutive starts allowing two or fewer goals. Kuemper had gone 15 straight games with the last game prior to Saturday allowing more than two was March 3rd against the Chicago Blackhawks when he gave up four goals against.
It was an incredible run by Kuemper and has helped him vault into the discussion for the Vezina Trophy. He won't surpass Connor Hellebuyck but he absolutely should be named a finalist.
LA Kings can secure home ice advantage against Oilers
The magic number for home ice in the first round is down to two points and the Kings just need to win one more game this season or the Oilers need to lose one. The Oilers have a game Sunday night against the Winnipeg Jets before they are home against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.
The Kings and Oilers are almost certain to meet for the fourth straight year but this would be the first that the Kings have home ice advantage. This would be a huge confidence boost for a team that has 31 wins at home and the best record in the NHL.
