The LA Kings' season is over, but for Kevin Fiala he hasn't stopped playing hockey and is currently playing for Switzerland in the IIHF Worlds. They were able to advance to the semi-finals this week after a 6-0 win over Austria.
Fiala was the tournament MVP last season for Switzerland as they would earn a silver medal after losing in the championship game. However, they are back in great position to finally grab that gold medals and are only two wins away from achieving that.
As for the LA Kings forward, he is playing excellent hockey and he has played in six games with three goals, two on the power play, and six assists. In the quarterfinal game against Austria, Switzerland jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and Fiala extended that lead with a goal in the second as he was able to control a shot off the back boards and get it past the goalie.
The nine points are tied for the second highest total with Denis Malgin and only two points back of Tyler Moy.
Kevin Fiala continuing the strong momentum he had at the end of the regular season with the LA KIngs
It was a slow start to the season for Kevin Fiala but he finished the season on a high note with 19 goals in the final 33 regular season games, including eight power play goals. The Kings are going to be looking to make some changes this offseason but one of those changes shouldn't be Kevin Fiala.
He has been with the Kings for three seasons now and after Adrian Kempe he might be the best scorer the team has. They certainly want to improve in this area but that means bringing in another player to support Kempe and Fiala.
