This past month, the Los Angeles Kings and general manager Ken Holland were reportedly actively involved in talks on the trade block with the Montreal Canadiens and before the trade deadline for veteran forward Patrik Laine in late January and early February.
Los Angeles Kings and Ken Holland are reportedly engaging in interest and talks again on the trade block involving winger Patrik Laine this regular season
But the noted trade discussions on the block for Holland and the Kings' front office involving Laine from the Canadiens in the East died out pretty quickly before the trade deadline last month in February in the West.
Since the Kings are dealing with injuries to key forwards in the active roster lineup this regular season in the West, including winger Andrei Kuzmenko and winger Kevin Fiala this month in early March, it appears that LA and the front office have re-engaged in trade talks on the block for Laine from Montreal.
The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta reported on March 3 that the talks on the trade block and before the trade deadline this month in early March this upcoming week in the West have come up again for the team.
Holland and the Kings' front office needs to add more scoring to the active roster lineup offensively in the zone this regular season in the West in the Pacific Division. The Kings currently sit a few points outside of the postseason in the playoffs this upcoming spring in the picture in this upcoming couple of months.
Kuzmenko recently suffered a lower-body injury that forced him to undergo surgery for a torn meniscus. After undergoing surgery for the torn meniscus injury this past week, Kuzmenko is listed on a status of "week-to-week" for the Kings this regular season in early March this month.
The Kings are reportedly one of the teams in the midst of trade talks on the block and before the trade deadline this week with the Canadiens for Laine and are interested in the quality goal scorer.
This regular season, the Kings are missing multiple key players in the active forward lines core group in the West, which has caused the team to be missing almost 20 percent of its goal scoring offensively in the zone. If Kuzmenko, Fiala, and winger Joel Armia are out long-term for the Kings this regular season, adding a proven goal scorer like Laine to the active roster lineup in the top-nine forward lines group core makes sense in the Pacific Division for LA and Holland.
