An ultra-important and season-long six-game road trip in the West gets started for the Los Angeles Kings (20-16-13) and Jim Hiller on Saturday evening, early (Jan. 24) vs. the St. Louis Blues (19-24-8) this weekend. The Kings face the Blues in the West and then the next five straight games against the East this upcoming week in late January this month.
The next few upcoming games in the East could determine which moves Hiller and new general manager Ken Holland make for the Kings' top-nine forward lines core in the West this regular season for the postseason in the playoffs. The Kings could make some roster decisions in the upcoming weeks this regular season in the West that impact the team's place in the standings in the Pacific Division.
Hiller and the Kings have gotten healthier this weekend vs. the Blues tonight on Saturday. The Kings are expecting starting goalie Darcy Kuemper to return from an injury he suffered this past week in the opening frame in the first period in a win over the New York Rangers on home ice.
Defenseman Drew Doughty and forward Corey Perry will also play for Hiller and the Kings this weekend this evening vs. the Blues on the road in St. Louis today.
