The United States was very impressive on both sides of the ice in the opening win in the Winter Olympics this past Thursday (Feb. 12) against Team Latvia, with a convincing 5-1 win on the scoreboard. Team USA will be looking to build on that momentum the team built with the strong four-goal win over Team Latvia a couple of days ago late this week against Team Denmark on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14).
On Thursday, Team USA got multi-point performances from the likes of center Brock Nelson, forward Matthew Tkachuk and defenseman Quinn Hughes, among other players on the team. Team USA cashed in with a couple of goals on special teams on the power play on the 5-on-4 man advantage, including the insurance goal from forward Tage Thompson in the middle frame in the second period.
A win over Denmark this afternoon would move USA to an undefeated 2-0 record through group play's first two games late this week in round robin play in this past 48 hours on the ice.
