The LA Kings have already secured their trip to the playoffs and right now fighting for seeding, which they will continue to do on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks. However, for some of their top prospects they are currently deep in their playoffs and that includes goalie Hampton Slukynsky.
Slukynsky plays for Western Michigan and on the season has gone 17-5-1 with a save percentage of .923% and a goals against average of 1.92. Slukynsky and the Broncos will be facing off against the defending champion University of Denver on Thursday afternoon. He was the Kings' fourth round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and has had an incredible run helping his team get to the Frozen Four.
The Broncos would win their first two games of the tournament over Minnesota State and UMass with Hampton's brother, Grant, scoring the winning goal against Minnesota. In both games, Slukynsky has allowed only two goals combined while stopping 96 of 98 shots he has faced.
Los Angeles Kings have some exciting prospects at goalie
The recent performance by Hampton Slukynsky is just another example of the talent the Los Angeles Kings have at goalie in their pipeline. The Kings have been fortunate to have Darcy Kuemper in net as he has become a legitimate Vezina Trophy contender but the players behind him should help solidify the position for years to come.
In the AHL, the Kings have Erik Portillo who probably will be with the LA Kings next season along with Carter George. They just called up George, who was a second round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, from the OHL and he is currently with the Ontario Reign.
George almost single-handedly willed the Owen Sound Attack to the playoffs and in his final three regular season games allowed only five goals on 122 shots.
The game for Western Michigan against Denver will be at 5 PM EST on ESPN2 and will also include two LA Kings draft picks on Denver in James Reeder and Jared Wright that Slukynsky will be tasked in stopping if he hopes to advance to the Frozen Four Championship Game.
