Erik Haula, C
Right from the start of the unrestricted free agent window opening yesterday, Holland and the Kings made some big news with the signing of former Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils veteran center Erik Haula. The Kings signed Haula to a two-year contract, worth $3.6 million in average annual value.
Given how expensive some of the more experienced and proven two-way centers have been in free agency in this past year, getting a forward in Haula who can produce double-digit goals and give reliable minutes on special teams is a big win for the Kings this offseason.
Grade: A-
Mats Zuccarello, W
There's a good argument to be made that the best value signing made by any team on Day 1 of the free agent window was former Minnesota Wild veteran winger Mats Zuccarello. The Kings can get good top-six minutes out of Zuccarello, who just produced 54 points this past regular season playing on a forward line with Kirill Kaprizov with the Wild.
The fact that the Kings signed a 50+ point scorer this past regular season on a playoff contender from the Wild to a one-year contract worth only $1 million in base value (including over $5 million in possible incentives for this upcoming season) is a huge win for Holland.
Grade: A
Corey Perry, W
For the second time in as many offseasons, the Kings have signed 20+ year veteran winger Corey Perry to a one-year contract deal. Holland and the Kings signed Perry to a one-year contract, worth $1 million in base value (including more in incentives).
Perry did have an instant impact on the Kings' roster lineup this past season when he was healthy. If he can contribute again offensively, this will be a good value depth signing for the Kings this upcoming season.
