The Los Angeles Kings Pacific Division rival in the West, the Vegas Golden Knights, are showing their true colors with the recent report that the franchise has declined to allow former head coach Bruce Cassidy to interview with the Edmonton Oilers early this offseason this spring.

General manager Ken Holland and the Kings in the front office haven't found many personal issues in this past few years in the Pacific Division in connection with the Golden Knights front office in the West. The Kings and Golden Knights have been Pacific Division foes for this past decade.

A recent report early this week from Frank Servalli noted that the Golden Knights surprisingly prevented Cassidy from interviewing this past week with the Oilers' front office management personnel. What initially appeared as an Oilers story in Edmonton could now be impacting the Kings in the Pacific Division this upcoming offseason this spring.

This assumption around the league around the NHL in this past few months is that Cassidy could become a hot commodity on the coaching carousel this offseason in the summer. It seems like Vegas has little to no intention of making that process easy or smooth for Pacific Division rivals in the West this upcoming offseason in the summer.

The report that surfaced early this week on Tuesday concerning Cassidy and the Oilers shows that the Golden Knights withheld permissions from their former head coach. Cassidy's contract does still hand to the Golden Knights this upcoming offseason, which means that Vegas still technically has control of where he interviews this spring in the Pacific Division.

This raises a pretty clear and obvious question for the Kings' management personnel this offseason; if the Golden Knights in Vegas are unwilling to let Cassidy be the Oilers' head coach, why would their franchise let him interview with the Kings this upcoming offseason?

Recent reports have linked the Kings and Cassidy as part of their coaching search in LA early this offseason in the league. What did look like a pretty cut and dry and straightforward approach for the Kings to pursue Cassidy on the coaching carousel to make an immediate impact on the team in the Pacific Division now looks like it could hinge on Vegas's decision making.

The Kings could still view Cassidy as a top option candidate on the coaching carousel this upcoming offseason in the summer. But after Vegas's report of being unwilling to let Cassidy interview with the Oilers in the Pacific Division, questions are out there if the Golden Knights will even let him join any other team in the division rivals this upcoming offseason.
