There were only a couple of players who were active on the waiver wire in the middle of this week on Wednesday, and one of them was a former defenseman and first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings from this past decade in the late 2010s. Former Kings defenseman and first-round pick (22nd overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Tobias Bjornfot, will be available for the other 31 teams in the league in the NHL to join this regular season.
Former Los Angeles Kings and Golden Knights defenseman Tobias Bjornfot will be available on waivers for the next 24 hours for the other teams in the NHL to join
Elliotte Friedman reported on March 4 that Bjornfot was waived by the Florida Panthers in the middle of this week on Wednesday. Theoretically, the Kings could pick up the defenseman that they lost to the waiver wire a few years ago in the 2023-24 season in the West.
The Vegas Golden Knights picked up Bjornfot after the Kings waived him a few years ago in the 2023-24 season. He was later picked up by the Panthers in the Sunshine State in Florida after the Golden Knights waived him later in the 2023-24 season in the East.
He played in under a dozen games with the Panthers in Florida this regular season, registering a couple of goals and three total points on the blue line on defense in the Sunshine State.
The 27-year-old Swedish defenseman Bjornfot was selected in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings. For four seasons, Bjornfot played over 110 games in the regular season for the Kings in the early-to-mid 2020s decade in the West in the Pacific Division.
He played a career-high 70 regular season games for the Kings in the 2021-22 season on the blue line on defense for LA. He registered eight assists and eight total points for the Kings in the 2021-22 campaign in the West in the Pacific Division.
