This past offseason, in the summer of 2025, former Los Angeles Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov passed on an offer from LA to sign with the New York Rangers in the East in the Atlantic Division after a slow 2024-25 regular season this past year. But it sounds like Gavrikov hasn't been happy with the step back that the Rangers have taken in New York in the standings in the East this regular season in this past few months.
Could the Rangers part ways with former Los Angeles Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov this regular season on the block and before the trade deadline?
Gavrikov signed a seven-year contract with the Rangers in New York this past offseason in the summer of 2025, worth around $7 million in average annual value.
It wouldn't be too surprising if Gavrikov was more open to a trade on the block and before the trade deadline this regular season from the Rangers in New York in the next couple of weeks.
Mike Rupp reported on the Daily Faceoff early this week that Gavrikov has been amid various trade discussions and rumors from the Rangers in New York in this past month or so in the league in the NHL this regular season and before the trade deadline next month in early March.
It's been reported in the last week or so on the block and in the media that Gavrikov originally signed with the Rangers in New York to take a discount to play for a spot in the postseason in the playoffs with his friend and star forward Artemi Panarin offensively. The Rangers traded Panarin to the Kings earlier this month in early February before the freeze to rosters for the three week break a few weeks ago.
That said, I cold see Gavrikov sticking around in New York because of the abrupt trade rumors on the block this regular season for the Rangers' front office and the active roster lineup. Gavrikov signed a long-term deal with the Rangers this past offseason in free agency in the summer in 2025. He also has a no-move clause on his contract that he signed with the Rangers this past offseason in 2025.
