It has been a success on this five-game road trip this past week for the Los Angeles Kings (4-3-3). In this past week, the Kings picked up three out of four wins in the Western Conference and notched seven out of eight possible points in the standings in the Pacific Division this fall.
Los Angeles Kings have found success in the first four games of the road trip
For the first time, the Kings picked up a regulation win on Sunday night against the Chicago Blackhawks (4-3-2), winning by multiple goals by a score of 3-1.
The Kings had quite a few players who picked up points to help contribute to the team's two-goal win in regulation against Chicago yesterday. Defenceman Joel Edmundson and Brandt Clarke extended their respective point streaks to two games.
With the forward group for the Kings, center Phillip Danault and winger Joel Armia also stepped up with points of their own to help LA get the win over Chicago over the weekend.
Edmundson and Danult spoke to the media postgame after the Kings' first regulation win of the regular season this past Sunday night against the Blackhawks in Chicago at the United Center.
Here's a look at everything Kings players said to the media postgame following the 3-1 win over the Blackhawks on the road on Oct. 26.
Phillip Danault
On the Kings' getting their first win in regulation vs. Chicago yesterday
"I think it was just a matter of time, but it felt good to get that regulation win, and we did it the right way. You know, we worked hard in the second and third, and we played our game. It worked out."
On adjustments the Kings made after the first period
"Yeah, we got an older group, so it'll take a little longer to start the engine. We got going right away, and got big goals, and got the energy back."
On playing back-to-back games for the Kings on the road trip over last weekend
"Big character win. They came out hard, actually. They played well. But we pushed back in the second and that's when we took over right there. They were all over us in the first, and I would say then we made the switch around to play better."
On how age and experience for the Kings' impacts the team in back-to-back games this season
"Maybe a little harder in the first to start the engine again but we got experience as well, so we know we can't panic after you know 10 minutes. We know it's going to be a little storm. But then we rally and we push back and get to work.
Joel Edmundson
On his reaction to the Kings winning the game yesterday vs. Chicago in regulation
"It’s about time. I thought every game was just going to go to overtime this year. Definitely feels nice, especially on the road."
On the adjustments the Kings made going into the second period
"Sometimes with the back-to-back, some travel, it takes a little bit. We definitely weren’t happy with our first period, lots of turnovers, just wasn’t Kings hockey. But, we were still in the game thanks to Forsy, so we came out firing in the second."
On the Kings playing more consistent defense on this road trip
"Our systems, not every team plays it and we’ve got some new guys in the locker room, so it takes time to adjust, but we’ve found our groove now. It’s always nice to get on the road and play some good games."
On the Kings getting three out of four possible points in the back-to-back games this weekend
"Those are two good hockey teams and three of four points on the road, it’s pretty good. We would have liked to win in Nashville but you can’t win them all. That’s definitely something we’re going to build on and the trip’s not finished yet. We have to go play San Jose and they’re playing good hockey."
