After leading the game in the opening frame in the first period yesterday night (Nov. 6) at Crypto.com Arena, the Los Angeles Kings (6-5-4) fell short of the Florida Panthers (7-6-1) by a score of 5-2 in the finale of a four-game homestand this week. Defenseman Mikey Anderson and the Kings dropped three out of four games in the homestand in the past 10 days or so at Crypto Arena this fall.

Mikey Anderson extends his points streak to two games in the Los Angeles Kings loss to Florida

The Kings had their chances, including three combined scoring chances and two high-danger scoring chances for Anderson and winger Trevor Moore last night. But the Kings couldn't convert on their last couple of power play opportunities on special teams against the Panthers and Sergei Bobrovsky, including giving up a shorthanded goal that was an insurance tally in the third period.

Following the loss yesterday, Moore and Anderson spoke to the media to give their thoughts on where the team is at right now and the loss to the Panthers.

For the second game in a row, Anderson picked up a point for the Kings on an assist on the goal by Corey Perry in the game's first period. Moore, meanwhile, hasn't scored a goal or registered any points for the Kings in the past five games in the last couple of weeks.

Here's a look at everything Moore and Anderson said to the media postgame following the Kings' 5-2 loss to the Panthers at home at Crypto Arena on Nov. 6.

Mikey Anderson

On his thoughts from the loss vs. Florida yesterday

"I thought overall, it wasn’t a terrible game by us. I think a lot of things we liked, but again, a few mistakes end up in the net. That’s the way it goes. I mean, they’re a great team for a reason, so they don’t need much to capitalize."

On the Kings needing to win more consecutive games this regular season

"I think as of late, it hasn’t been bad games. Sometimes you just come out with a bad result. Sometimes it’s little mistakes, like I said, that lead to goals against that you play high-level teams, which, again, we think we are, and know we are. That can be the difference. You don’t need much to put it in."

On the team needing to score more goals

"No matter who it is, I think you could say you want more. Sometimes maybe it’s us looking for a perfect play. Sometimes, maybe it’s the other team, you’ve got to give them credit too. They defend hard. I mean, there’s a reason why they win."

On the impact Corey Perry is having on the team and in the locker room early this season

"He’s played enough games now, he’s been around. He knows what it takes. I mean, he’s a guy I think everyone will look to, even if he’s a little quieter and maybe not always the vocal guy, you watch him play, whatever we are, 14 games in, it’s pretty evident he’s making a mark."

On the team's up and down goal-scoring efforts in the past couple of weeks

"Coming off the Winnipeg game, I thought we did a good job. Didn't give up a whole lot. Darce came up with saves. Then today, they scored a breakaway goal on the PP. They had another one in the third. Maybe a bounce here or there. It's not crazy plays. I think some of it comes back to us having a breakdown, and they're going to capitalize when they get them."

On the team being more successful on the penalty kill recently on special teams

"A big help is taking less. If you play the same five or 10, guys, and they know what we’re doing, it’s hard. They’ll make changes, but trying to get back to what we want to do and focus more about us, less about what they’re doing. And yeah, it’s been something to try and keep building on."

On the feeling in the locker room after the first period

"Guys may be disappointed it doesn't go for them. But for getting chances and game over game, you keep getting looks, eventually you've got to think they're going to go in. So it's trying to stay with it and be ready when you get a chance, you can bear down and put it in."

Trevor Moore

On the team's struggles offensively

"We probably got to get to the dirty areas a little bit more. I think Perry's a good example of that. He's been getting there and getting rewarded. Give our D a chance to shoot through a screen. And then just bearing down. We've had chances, but we just got to put them in."

On the team needing to win more games consecutively early this season

"Yeah, obviously can't panic. We'd like to score more. I'd like to score more. It's just, you know, just not happening right now, what we've seen in a lot of areas of our game. We don't want to get away from those. And just keep building."

On the timing of the upcoming road trip

"Yeah, sure. You know, some good bonding. It's you against the building, all that kind of stuff. So, yeah, we're looking forward to it."
