When it seemed like Jim Hiller and the Los Angeles Kings (14-8-8) had worked out the special teams issues on the power play early this regular season, the team had seven penalty kill opportunities on special teams against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night. All five goals in the game yesterday for the Kings and Kraken were scored on special teams on the power play or the penalty kill.

Anton Forsberg stops double-digit scoring chances for the Los Angeles Kings in a shocking overtime comeback loss to Seattle on the road on Wednesday

For the most part, the Kings did well holding up on the blue line on defense yesterday vs. Seattle against the Kraken. Anton Forsberg stopped 30 shots from the Kraken in net for the Kings yesterday, posting another quality start in the West for LA on the ice.

The defense, led by Joel Edmundson and Mikey Anderson were good at 5-on-5 at even strength on the ice yesterday vs. Seattle.

Edmundson and Forsberg gave their thoughts and takeaways to the media after the surprising 3-2 overtime loss to the Kraken yesterday in Seattle.

The Kings did get three out of a four possible points in the standings in the West in the Pacific Division on the road trip early this week, this past Monday and Wednesday night.

Here's a look at everything Edmundson and Forsberg said to the media postgame following the Kings' comeback 3-2 road loss to the Kraken in overtime in Seattle on Wednesday night (Dec. 10).

Joel Edmundson

On his thoughts from the loss in overtime vs. Seattle yesterday

"They don’t really give too much off the rush, they kind of back out, similar to us, so we knew it was going to be a game where the team that uses the offensive zone as much as they can, works the puck low, is going to come out on top. They played us well; it was a tough game."

On the Kings failing to close out the lead yesterday in the third period vs. Seattle

"I feel like every game kind of comes down with this situation and we’re very comfortable in that situation. At the end of the day, when you take seven minors, it’s tough to win a hockey game. We can do better in the kill. The refs are calling all these stick infractions, so we’ve just got to keep our sticks down."

On his thoughts about the penalty kill

"We can take away some good stuff, but at the end of the day, we’ve got a job to do and we just didn’t do it."

On how Anton Forsberg played in net for the Kings

"He’s definitely found his game this past month or two, and he’s been playing awesome. It doesn’t matter who’s in net for us, we’re definitely comfortable, and he’s been playing great hockey."

On the feeling for the team after picking up points in each of the past three games in the West

"There's that long period where we're scoring goals. Those two games where we got a few goals, it definitely gave us a boost that we needed. We can't take a step back. We can't let one game get in our way. We got lots of guys that can score and they will score. So we just got to keep it going."

Anton Forsberg

On his thoughts from the overtime loss yesterday to Seattle

"Not the way we wanted. We had it two one there with five minutes left. Couldn't kind of close it out. Not much more than that."

On the frustration of not closing this game out in the final frame in the third period

"It's going to happen even if you're good on it. It's going to happen once in a while. We'll move on from here and learn from it."

On playing shorthanded on the penalty kill so many times vs. Seattle

"There was a lot of penalties in general today. Both ways. At the end of the day it's the same thing every game. It doesn't matter if it's four or six, I try to play the same game."

On how he felt yesterday vs. Seattle

"I know my situation and I'm trying to work hard in practice. Me and Bucks are working every day on details of my game, and I feel good even sitting out for a bit, and it was fun to play tonight. Special to get that one too with your mom in the building, be able to experience that with her."
