Amid a longer break during the holiday season this month in December for the Los Angeles Kings, it's a good time to take a look at something different than the franchise on the ice this week. In this past week, training camps and inaugural invited rosters were announced and got underway for the World Junior Championships for this year in 2026.
Top prospects forward Liam Greentree and defenseman Henry Brzustewicz can represent the Los Angeles Kings in the 2026 World Junior Championships in a couple of weeks
Camps have gotten underway for most countries in the past week or so in early-to-mid December this month. Competition and the actual event for the World Juniors championships will begin in a couple of weeks on Dec. 26.
Here's a list of every prospect in the Kings' minor league and developmental system who is competing in World Juniors camp ahead of the 2026 World Juniors Championship in Minnesota later in December.
United States
Defenseman Henry Bruzstewicz highlights a couple of Kings' prospects in the minor league and developmental system who will be competing for the United States in their home country in camp for the World Juniors for 2026 this year.
Brzustewicz is the Kings' most recent first-round pick at defense on the blue line in the prospect pipeline this fall. He is one of the top defensemen for the London Knights in the OHL on the blue line this year.
Forward Brendan McMorrow is attending training camp this month in early-to-mid December. The speedy McMorrow is looking to prove he can skate with the best players and prospects on the United States forward lines roster in camp this week.
This upcoming week will be the final stretch of camp for the United States to make the team roster for the World Juniors for 2026. I think there's a realistic path for both McMorrow and Brzustewicz to make the final roster for the forward group and the defensive lines on the blue line for Team USA in Minnesota.
Canada
For Team Canada, two Kings' prospects are competing in training camp this upcoming week in Ontario in Niagara Falls. Returning after being Team Canada's starting goalie in the World Juniors this past year in 2025, Carter George was invited to camp in Niagara Falls for the 2026 World Juniors Championships.
I think George is pretty much guaranteed a spot on the roster for Team Canada this month in December. George has been motivated and ready to get down to work in training camp this week for Canada in net.
Top Kings' forward prospect and former first-round draft pick in the 2024 entry draft, Liam Greentree, is going to be competing in training camp for Team Canada this upcoming week in Ontario at the Gale Centre. If Greentree gets off to a strong start this week in training camp, he could be earning a roster spot for the World Juniors for the Canada forward lines group.
Finland
Goalie Petteri Rimpinen is set to compete for Team Finland in the World Juniors later this month in Minnesota in the tournament on the roster. Rimpinen helped Finland reach the Gold Medal game this past year against Team Canada in the tournament.
Like George, Rimpinen is essentially guaranteed to be the starting goalie for Team Finland this winter in late December in the World Juniors. Rimpinen was named the most outstanding goaltender performance for Team Finland in the World Juniors tournament this past year in 2025 in the championships for his country.
Czechia
Forward Vojtech Cihar is among the final names from the Kings' prospect and developmental group players who will be competing in training camp for the World Juniors this month in December. Cihar played for Czechia in the World Juniors tournament this past year in 2025.
The Kings signed Cihar to an entry-level contract this past week on Wednesday (Dec. 10).
Slovakia
Amid his inaugural season playing minor/junior hockey in North America this fall and this winter, forward Jan Chovan is set to participate in training camp this month in December for Team Slovakia. Chovan has over a dozen points and a half dozen goals for the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL this regular season in the 2025-26 campaign.
