Ontario Reign

Pheonix Copley, Samuel Fagemo, Caleb Jones, Reilly Walsh, Joseph Cecconi, Taylor Ward

The final group of players are ones that primarily played in the AHL, outside of defenseman Caleb Jones, who played in six games this season with the Los Angeles Kings. This is a hard group to determine exactly what the Kings are deciding here, and it wouldn't be surprising if all six were brought back.

However, out of this group my guess is that Samuel Fagemo, Pheonix Copley, and Caleb Jones are the priority free agents. Fagemo led the Reign in goals this season with 29 and was selected to the AHL All-Star Game.

For Copley, he fills a great role as a veteran goalie at the AHL level that can help some of the younger players at the position. However, if there was a need the Kings could call up a goalie with NHL experience and that is valuable to have if needed.

As for Caleb Jones, he also has NHL experience and has played in 248 career games, including 73 with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2022-23. Depending on what happens with Gavrikov, Jones probably gets an invite to training camp and could compete for that seventh defenseman spot on the roster next season.

Prediction: LA Kings re-sign Pheonix Copley, Samuel Fagemo, and Caleb Jones
