Liam Greentree

Of the forwards, there is no question that fans are most excited about Liam Greentree and what he can do in the preseason. The first-round pick from the 2024 NHL Draft had an incredible season in the OHL with 119 points and has sights set on the NHL.

For Greentree, it is a little more complicated and not as straightforward as some of the other players on this list. The first is that he can't participate in the AHL due to age restrictions so if he isn't in the NHL, he must return to the OHL.

However, for him to play in the NHL he has to start the season on the roster. If the Kings feel he can compete at the NHL level, they will need to decide if they want to use a year of his contract. Greentree can play a maximum of nine games without using a year of his contract so if he does make the roster, it probably will only be for a small portion of the season.

There is always a chance that Greentree can look great and make the roster. However, he will need to prove that he can be a Top 9 forward this season for the Kings to really consider keeping him up all season.
