The Los Angeles Kings are expecting another trip to the playoffs and loaded up with veterans to hopefully not only achieve that but also get past the first round. As the season progresses, general manager Ken Holland will have a better idea of needs to help them achieve that, or if the Kings struggle, maybe start thinking about next season and how to add assets to help rebuild.
With that in mind, these are four players that the Los Angeles Kings could make available depending on the situation.
Corey Perry
Corey Perry hasn't even played a game yet for the Los Angeles Kings, and he was brought in specifically to help in the playoffs. He has made the Stanley Cup Final five times in the past six seasons but has come up empty-handed each time.
The Kings signed Perry to a one-year deal for this season, and if the season doesn't go the way they hope, he is one of the top candidates to be traded at the deadline. He is an older veteran and towards the end of his career, so it makes perfect sense to trade him if they don't look like they have a good chance.
If the Kings were to make him available, he would generate a ton of interest around the league and could even go back to his former team, the Edmonton Oilers.
Trevor Moore
Trevor Moore is another player that should be made available and he could be moved whether the Kings struggle or if they are trying to upgrade, he is a player who could be part of a package to achieve that.
Moore had a 30+ goal two seasons ago and took a step backward this past season. If he gets off to a fast start, he could generate interest around the league. He is also one of the easier players to trade as he has no trade clauses in his contract.
Andrei Kuzmenko
Andrei Kuzmenko was one of the Kings' best players down the stretch last season after they traded for him at the deadline. They brought him back on a one-year deal and I believe he is going to continue to produce for Los Angeles.
He is a player that should get a contract extension during the season if he plays at the same rates he did last season. If the Kings fear they might not be able to get that done, or he might leave in free agency, and they are struggling then he is a player that makes sense to put on the trade block.
Alex Turcotte
Finally, there is Alex Turcotte, who is an interesting player in terms of trade value. He was the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft and didn't really get a chance at the NHL level until this past season, when he had nine goals and 16 assists.
It has been a slow start for Turcotte and this season could be the turning point in his career if he can move up past the fourth line. However, another slow start to the season could be the motiviation the Kings need to trade him.
There could be teams that are interested in trading for him as he will only be 24 years old. Unlike the other players on this list, Turcotte is probably the one most likely to be traded in a package if the Kings want to upgrade for a playoff push.
