Todd Nelson (Pittsburgh Penguins assistant coach)

Three-time Calder Cup winner and current Pittsburgh Penguins assistant coach Todd Nelson is in his first year coaching behind the bench with head coach and Jack Adams Trophy finalist Dan Muse this past regular season. Before his time with the Penguins in the East this past season in the 2025-26 campaign, Nelson was an assistant coach for the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers interim head coach in the West.

Nelson most recently held an assistant coach role in the late 2010s and early 2020s decades with the Stars in the West. He helped to lead the Stars to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in the early 2020s decade.

Jay Woodcroft (Anaheim Ducks assistant coach)

Former Edmonton and current Anaheim Ducks assistant coach Jay Woodcroft is familiar with playing against the Kings in the Pacific Division in the West in this past few seasons since the 2020s decade. Woodcroft has significant name recognition in the West in the 2020s decade in this past few regular seasons, and he is a known commodity for the Kings after having coached the Oilers in the postseason for multiple years.

This past regular season in the West, Woodcroft joined head coach Joel Quenneville's coaching staff as an assistant coach. He's helped to coach up the offense and special teams on the power play on the 5-on-4 man advantage. Woodcroft is a good offensive mind behind the bench for the Ducks.

He could be the type of offensive change-of-pace that the Kings need in the West in 2026.
