Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also confirmed the report from Mayor's Manor. Friedman reported that Perry is "undergoing further evaluation" and that there might not be an official update regarding his status from the injury until "before camp begins".
Perry signed with the Kings earlier this offseason on a one-year contract to help new general manager Ken Holland and LA get over the hump in the postseason in the West this upcoming season in the 2025-26 campaign.
Head coach Jim Hiller and the Kings are reportedly unlikely to make any news regarding specifics available for Perry's injury and his current status based on NHL injury reporting rules until the official start of training camp next week.
This was the last week of workouts and on-ice skating for the Kings before Perry was set to report for LA training camp next week, ahead of the preseason opener on Sep. 21 against the Anaheim Ducks.
The 40-year-old veteran Perry is entering his 21st season in the NHL in his career (since 2005-06 season). He's played over 1,200 career regular season games, and helped the Ducks win the Stanley Cup in 2007.
Perry won the Hart Trophy as the league MVP in the 2010-11 season, leading the league with 50 goals and 98 total points for the Ducks.
