Brock Boeser would be the LA Kings' backup plan if they miss out Mitch Marner
While the Kings would love to add Mitch Marner, they are probably working through different scenarios. One of those scenarios is what happens if Marner signs somewhere else? What direction do the Kings go in that case?
The answer seems to be forward Brock Boeser, who is described as Plan B for the Kings by David Pagnotta with The Fourth Period.
There is certainly more risk with Boeser as he is coming off a down season with only 18 goals. However, at his best, he is exactly what the Kings need for their offense, as he had 40 goals in the previous season while also being a big forward who can help on the forecheck.
The last thing that I believe Ken Holland wants for his first season is to essentially bring back the same group of forwards. He is going to need to make a splash and after Mitch Marner, the last player who could fit that need that the Kings realistically could sign would probably be Brock Boeser.
