Vegas Golden Knights are the team to beat for Mitch Marner
The focus for most of the league entering free agency is where Mitch Marner will sign. While every team probably wants to add a player of his caliber, it seems like Marner already has a short-list that includes the Los Angeles Kings.
However, rumors are starting to circulate that they may not be the favorite, and unfortunately, that would be division rival Vegas Golden Knights, according to Elliotte Friedman on a recent episode of 32 Thoughts.
The Golden Knights are not afraid to be aggressive and go after big-name free agents in their pursuit of a Stanley Cup. However, for them to be in a position to sign him, they are going to need to clear cap space to fit the type of contract Marner is expected to sign.
I am fully buying the Golden Knights being the team to beat, but it only works if they can move some of their players. If they don't trade anyone over the next few days, the Kings' chances will only go up.
