The NHL Draft is quickly approaching, and front offices around the league are busy with trade discussions, trying to finalize contracts for any free agents they want to bring back and building their draft board. The LA Kings are no different with new general manager Ken Holland as he is trying to put his stamp on this roster.
With as much activity as there is around the league, it means there are plenty of rumors flying around, both directly and indirectly involving the Los Angeles Kings. Let's take a look at some of the rumors and whether to buy or sell them.
LA Kings are looking to trade back in the first round
On Monday, Zach Dooley with the LA Kings Insider did an interview with Mark Yanetti, who is the Director of Amateur Scouting. During that interview, Yanetti hinted at the fact that the Kings were looking to trade down in the first round and specifically mentioned the Flyers and Sharks as two possible trade partners.
On the surface, it makes sense because the Kings don't have any second-round picks this year so if moving back a few spots brings them a pick in that round, it could be a good move.
The reason that I am not fully bought in is that the Kings want to win now and I lean more towards them using their first-round pick for a player who can join the Kings roster this upcoming season. If they don't trade the pick away, then it is certainly logical for them to trade back and add some additional draft picks in the process.
