The Los Angeles Kings have now won back-to-back games after a five-game losing streak. The momentum seems to be back on their side and with roughly one quarter of the regular season left, they are in good position in the standings at third. They are five points ahead of the Calgary Flames but only three points back of the Edmonton Oilers.
There is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the Kings chances down the stretch with how their schedule is set up. The biggest reason is the fact that they are going to be home for the majority of their games.
Out of the 20 games, 14 of them will be at Crypto.com Arena, and the Kings have one of the best home records in the NHL at 20-3-4. However, seven of those home games are against teams currently in the playoffs, so the competition will be tough but the Kings have proven they can beat those teams on their home ice.
In addition to the home ice, the games themselves are pretty well spread out as the Kings only have three instances of games on consecutive nights. Two of those three are at home, and the only road back-to-back is against the Edmonton Oilers and Seattle Kraken.
Final three games will be the Los Angeles Kings most important stretch of games
While the schedule is pretty favorable for the Los Angeles Kings, they are going to be tested at the end of the regular season with three games in four days. As mentioned, there is only one road back-to-back and unfortunately, that is part of this stretch.
The Kings are going to start it against the Edmonton Oilers, who they currently are chasing in the standings. It wouldn't be surprising if they close the gap, or even pass, by this point of the season but should be fighting for position one way or another.
After that game, they have a matchup against the Seattle Kraken before wrapping up the regular season at home against the Calgary Flames. This is another team that they could be fighting in the standings as they currently are behind them but not much.
The Los Angeles Kings are going to try and make the playoffs for the fourth straight season but with a strong finish they can set themselves up to possibly get home ice. This would be a nice boost for a team trying to get out of the first round of the playoffs since the 2013-14 season.
