Kirill Kaprizov
Kirill Kaprizov has been a goal-scoring machine since entering the league in the 2020-21 season for the Minnesota Wild with 185 career goals in only 319 games. He has been selected to the All-Star Game in three of his five seasons and won the Calder Memorial Trophy in that first season.
The Kings definitely could use another playmaker to take pressure off Kempe to carry this offense and Kaprizov on the left side could certainly do that. However, similar to Eichel, it is hard to imagine that the Wild don't get a deal done before free agency.
Cale Makar
The Los Angeles Kings lost a big part of their defense this summer in Vladislav Gavrikov and tried to replace him with some older veterans in Cody Ceci and Brian Dumoulin. However, if they really want to upgrade the position they are going to need a big-time player like Cale Makar.
Makar is the second Colorado Avalanche player on this list and their front office has a lot of work to do over the next year. Between the two, Makar is the more likely one to get an extension done but if he doesn't then he probably falls in the category of Connor McDavid, where every NHL team is going to be interested.
Makar has won the Norris Trophy two times in the past four seasons and has averaged over a point per game as a defenseman. He would be a great addition on the left side of the Kings' defense that could replace Drew Doughty and take some pressure off a player like Brandt Clarke.
